Record a podcast in podomatic

In this activity we had to create our own podcast and then explain the tasks we would do in class with it.

For that, I decided to make a podcast in which I told a story for my pupils. The story is named "The curious elephant" and it´s about an elephant that wanted to know what a crocodile was and when finally he discovered it, he got an unfortunately surprise... Click here to listen to my podcast

This is a funny story with differents animals as well as voices and with some "special effects" that make it more entertaining. (*) I have to say that when I told this story in a university´s class, the result was great because I could control quite well those special effects. It hasn´t happened the same with the podcast because I had to tell the story, record it and try to suit everything and it was impossible for me! Saying this, I will explain now the sequence of tasks I would do with the podcast.

1. VOCABULARY: After we had worked on the animals topic, we will revise the vocabulary. Then, we´ll listen to the podcast (only the audio).

2. THE STORY: I will prepare some flashcards with pictures of the story. So, at the same time we listen to the podcast, I will show the pupils the differents scenes in order to facilitate the comprehension. (We´ll listen to it twice daily during a week)

3. MATCH THE PICTURES: I will prepare some flashcards with the animals that appeared on the story and the phsysical features of the crocodile that they name to the elephant. The game would consist in children match them. For example, the parrot says "a crocrodile is an animal with a hard green skin". So, children must match the parrot with a picture of a hard green skin.

4. COMPLETE THE SENTENCE: I will write on the blackboard the main sentences of the story: the main question "Mr. -animal- what´s a crocodile?" and answers like "A crocodile is an animal with....". The aim of this task is that children try to remember what they have listened to and they are able to complete the sentences.

5. YOU CAN´T CATCH ME!: The last game will consist in divide the class into two groups: one will be the crocodiles and the other one the elephants. To distinguish them the crocodiles can use some green chest guards. I will play the "Crocodile´s song" (song) and while it´s playing, the crocodiles must dance near the elephants. When the music stops, the crocodiles will have to catch the elephants. If an elephant is caught, he/she will be eliminated. For this game we´ll need a large space.
